Pendeen Manor Farm - 24Oct10

I was in search of a fine fougou or prehistoric tunnel which my books tell me exists in the grounds of this beautiful farmhouse where famous Penwith antiquarian Dr Wm Borlase was born in 1696. I tried to ask the owner for permission to take a look at the tunnel but failed to receive an answer at the farmhouse door. Luckily, a gentleman who has lived behind the house for 3 years as a builder showed me where the tunnel was across the farmyard. It was protected from cattle by a metal gate placed over its entrance.
Another lovely set pard, thank you, although you make me quite homesick.
I believe I went into the fougou with the St Just & Pendeen OCS back in the 1960s.
Did you know that, when North St.Just was separated off from St Just in the 19th century, Pendeen House gave its name to the parish.
