All you need to know about the Picture Penzance Gallery

Picture Gallery
By now you would have seen some on the tens of thousands of photographs we have on show. You too can upload and share your pictures with fellow members. You can only upload pictures that have been taken in the Penwith area.
Before you start to upload pictures I should explain that there are two area’s in the gallery. The main area and members albums.
In the main area you can upload pictures of Pavement pirate or credit crunch shops. But remember you must only upload relevant pictures to the main area. Don’t upload your personal pictures to the main are. Instead create a personal album.

Before you upload a picture

How to create an album

Before you upload a picture you should create an album to put them in. This process is simple enough and here’s how to do that.
How to create an album for my pictures
from the main menu choose galley> now from the drop-down choose Create and album. A new screen will open up. Choose a name for your album and a description as well.
Now at the bottom you’ll see “Is the album private” leave this set to no otherwise nobody will be able to see your pictures.
Once you’re happy click on create new album.
You can create as many albums as you like. Perhaps you would like albums for different subject as this would help organise your pictures for you.

Uploading photos
Once you’ve create a personal album (above) you are ready to upload your pictures. Pictures can be a maximum size of 1024x768 and no more than 2mb.
As mentioned above you can upload to the main gallery (but please make sure that you don’t upload your personal pictures to the main gallery) or to you personal albums, and here how that’s done.
Click on the Gallery tab on the main menu. From the drop-down menu choose “Upload photos”. Now you’ll be in the upload photos area.
lets say you want to upload a picture to your newly created album.
In the centre of the page you’ll see two drop down boxes. The top box contains the albums in the main area that you have access to and the second drop-down box has your albums. So choose an album from the second drop-down box for your pictures to be uploaded to. Now click on the browse button and a small pop-up window will open. Here you are able to browse through your computer to find the picture you would like to upload. Once you have found the picture you want to upload click on the open button. The pop-up window will close. If you have more pictures to upload then use the next browse button down and do the same process. Now the next thing to do is to add a title to the picture. Please make the title meaningful so that other members will be able to find it through the search facility. Remember we have tens of thousands of pictures. Once that’s done fill in the description for the picture. Beneath the description box is the Keyword box. Place a keyword in this box. For instance if the picture was of the harbour then the keyword would be harbour.
At the very bottom of the page are chooses that are self explanatory and can be ignored. Now simply click on the Upload/Submit button.
After a few moments you’ll see your picture reappear. The idea of this is for you to check to make sure you are happy with the title and description of each picture before it is uploaded. You can edit any of the detail, but if you are happy with the picture and details then click the “Process” button and you’ll have your picture uploaded to the site.
Your picture cannot be allowed to be posted straight to the site and so is sent to the administration team for it to be authorised. Once this is done your picture will be visible to all members.
