I love a bit of beach combing - always have done since I was a kid.

I collect bits of old, rusty metal, 'sea glass' (bits of broken bottles that have been worn smooth by the sea) and old pottery fragments. The rust metal will be made into a sculpture of sorts, the pottery into a mosaic and the sea glass we keep in bowls or in old bottles for decoration.

Anyone else enjoy seeing what they can find along a beach, and if so, what's the most interesting thing you've ever found?

Saw a seagull hit by a motorist this morning at Wherrytown - ok, I'll assume it wasn't deliberate ....

I took it over to Mousehole, but they didn't hold out much hope for it so it was likely it was going to be put to sleep. The woman there said it was quite common and speaking to my wife Nancy afterwards, she said she was quite disgusted to find that two people she knows have the attitude of 'if one's in the road, run it over'. I've also heard other people in the past complain about the noise and/or mess they make when they come in to nest (we get quite a few around where we are).

I think they are wonderful birds, not just to look at, but they are also a big part of living in a seaside town. When I lived away, quite often in the summer when I rang home, I could hear them in the background and it always made me home sick.

What's everyone else think - are you pro-seagulls or anti-seagulls?

I'm changing the named servers for Picture Penzance. Normally the site would have to be down for 24 hours whilst the new name server populates with DNS (domain names server). However, I have put a plan together and ran it by tech support and they think it will work.
I have already made a name server off line and waited for it to populate. Now in theory, I should be able to rename the "A" records and MX records to point to the newly found server. If this is true then we can move on up with a better corporate image and better ranking.
If things go a little sideways I have already put a plan in action and instead of seeing Picture Penzance, you'll see a splash screen with a link to the site... simply click the link and you're back in action.

The Jolly's Cornwall Premier League will not be decided until the final game of the season, but Paul seem certain to be crowned champions.
They need just one point from their remaining fixture at St Just, following a decisive double victory over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Paul followed up Saturday's 97-run success at Penzance with a three-wicket victory against Grampound Road.
St Just's hopes of retaining the title for a seventh successive season were effectively scuppered by Saturday's home defeat against St Austell and, although they bounced back two days later to win handsomely by 72 runs at Falmouth, they were unable to make inroads into the leaders' 20-point lead.
There was no shortage of drama on the penultimate day, not least at Trescobeas, where St Just dug deep to recover from 33 for five before posting 186, and at Wheal Eliza, where St Austell's Liam Watson took four wickets in four balls to set up a 20-point, nine-wicket hammering of Penzance.

In Paul's crucial victory against Grampound Road, Matt O'Leary (four for 58) and Stephens (three for 16) helped restrict the visitors to 150, of which Matt South made 42.

Grampound spinner Jeffrey Vandersay did his best to spoil the party and finished with four for 52 but the champions- elect reached their target of 151 for seven, Andrew Snell the top scorer with 38.

St Just, meanwhile, were indebted to Mark George's fighting 76 that steadied the ship after that early collapse in which home skipper Duncan Ayres (three for 46) and spinner Jon Udy (three for 46) did the damage.

Udy played his part with the bat in reply but his 39 received little support and the innings subsided to 114 all out, with George taking four for 23.

Truro leapfrogged into third place following an 87-run success against Werrington, who slip to seventh as a result. Truro racked up 235 with half- centuries from skipper Tom Sharp and Christian Purchase, Werrington's destroyer in chief being Seb Street with five for 79.

The visitors' innings subsided to 148 despite a battling 58 by Paul Smith. Truro seamer Kyle van Rooyen took four for 39 and there were three wickets apiece for skipper Tom Sharp and Ross Chadwick.

Callington remain fifth courtesy of the 20 points they bagged from an impressive 143-run triumph against Newquay, who could muster only 143 in reply to the visitors' 232 for six. Callington opener Jake Libby top-scored with 84 and Matt Robins fell three short of a half-century.

Jim Shorten and Rob Harrison then took three wickets apiece as the visitors were restricted to 143.

St Austell's big win against Penzance was memorable if only for Watson's exploits as Penzance were dismissed for 105, Kieran Brownfield hitting 32 and St Austell's Matt Rowe clobbered an undefeated 65 as the home side cruised home.
